What You Will Learn:
The Crucial Leak Test: You will learn why a leak test must be performed before an endoscope is ever immersed in fluid. We will practice attaching the leak tester, pressurizing the system to 160 mm of mercury, and monitoring for pressure drops to guarantee the instrument is watertight.
Step-by-Step Flexible Scope Disinfection: Master the difference between rapid "between-patient" wipedowns using the "clean hand/dirty hand" technique and thorough "end-of-day" high-level disinfection. You will practice flushing air/water channels, deploying channel cleaning brushes to remove organic debris, and properly using enzymatic cleaners and disinfectants.
Rigid Scope Care & Handling: Rigid scopes contain fragile glass rod lenses that require special attention. You will learn how to safely remove cloudy mineral deposits from optical lenses using ESS water-based Mineral Fluid and a Q-tip. We will also cover the critical importance of storing and transporting rigid scopes in polymer tube protectors.
